A few years back, I didn't know what split ends are. When one fine day I was, as usual, playing with my hair and I noticed why is it breaking in so many directions. Some were cut from the middle. I thought it might be a hair disease. Oh God! what do I do now. I was pressing my hair with iron at that time. Imagine! how strong my hair must have been that it dealt with such harsh conditions.
You must be very well aware of the teenage years me when you are dealing with the 'looks' issue. I was in school. I had just started using straighteners very badly and almost daily.
Another fine day I was chatting with my friends in the hostel when someone told me who have so many split ends. That was the time, it turned into an embarrassment.

Split ends are one of the most common hair problems experienced by mostly all of us. It is actually a type of hair damage that starts at the end of the hair shaft. However, it can occur anywhere on the length of the hair as you can also have in the middle of a hair strand.

Disclaimer: It is not a gender-specific post. Generally, split ends occur in long hair. Men think they don't have them. But check once again!

Basic Things to keep in mind to prevent split ends:

1. Trimming on a regular basis:

Everyday washing, as well as combing, can cause wear and tear, and so it is not easy to prevent split ends totally. If left untreated they make the hair look dull, damaged and unkempt. You can't reverse the damage done, you have only one way that is regular trimming after every 3 months or so.

2. Oiling your hair:

Oiling your hair at least 2 or 3 times every week regularly is very much important as is considered to be the best way to maintain healthy hair. Oiling nourishes your hair, restores moisture balance, prevents split ends, and dryness.

You can mix vitamin E capsules, castor oil or any other essential oil to get the added benefits.

3. Dry hair with care:

Drying your hair with utmost care is very much essential for healthy hair growth. The main cause of split ends includes rubbing your dry hair with a towel in unnatural directions. In this way, your hair will cause damage, breakage and split ends.

4. Using an appropriate comb:

Using a wide-tooth comb will help to reduce hair breakage and split ends. Always comb from end to and gently move towards up. Apply conditioner followed by a hair serum after hair wash to untangle hair with ease.

5. Restrict usage of heat appliances:

Blow dryers and heat curlers are the most common reasons for split ends and breakage. Avoid using these types of heating appliances on hair to avoid hair from damage. Best way to dry your hair without damage is to let it dry naturally or instead use anti-heat sprays.

Applying beer on split ends is known to be one of the most effective and modern methods to treat split ends. Beer not only treats split ends it also stimulates regrowth and also boost up hair strength.
It isn't a good idea to use beer every week but once or twice a month will serve the purpose.
